03 BRY WEBB TRILOGY
Artwork for a trilogy of albums

Art Direction
Print Production
As co-founder of Idée Fixe Records, I had the unique opportunity to shepherd an ambitious trilogy of albums by Bry Webb from concept to completion over a ten-year span. This project exemplifies our label's commitment to long-term artist development and our knack for creating visually striking, cohesive album designs that stand the test of time.

The trilogy's visual identity centred around high-resolution scans of marbled paper, with each album featuring a distinct colour palette. Bry's initial vision of using die-cut letters on the cover of Provider to reveal glimpses of the inner sleeve's matching pattern presented an exciting creative challenge. It crucially required careful font selection and attention to detail in the early stages to ensure compatibility with die-cutting techniques and flexibility for potential variations in album titles later in the series. The printing process was a masterclass in problem-solving and technical finesse. One of our greatest hurdles was accurately scanning the marbled paper and generating colour separations that would allow for printing with metallic inks. This demanded countless hours in Adobe Photoshop, meticulously separating colours and ensuring tight trapping - a necessity when working with non-overprinting metallic inks. Free Will presented a unique challenge, requiring us to digitally recolour the original's green marbling into gold, while Run With Me featured scans of custom-printed marbled paper by artist Steph Yates

Throughout the project, our forward-thinking approach to branding both the label and the artist's work paid off, resulting in a trilogy that's as visually cohesive as it is sonically compelling and a Juno nomination for Recording Package of the Year. The success of this trilogy underscores the value of collaborative problem-solving and innovative thinking in bringing ambitious artistic concepts to fruition.
